Having started in 1991 mainly in the field of sanitary engineering systems and concrete works, SA.MET has grown into a modern construction company that specialises in five business areas: construction of fuel stations and service stations, sanitary engineering systems, concrete works, general contracting and real estate development.
“When we started our business, mobile phones or remotely control garage doors were almost like science fiction in Estonia,” says Janus Metsa, CEO of SA.MET. In 25 years, the whole construction sector has been transformed. While the rules of physics and building principles have not changed, of course, it’s a whole new world in the availability of different building materials which offers significantly more opportunities for both the client and the building company. “Rapid development of technology has helped to raise efficiency, volume and speed of the construct to a level that was only a dream at the beginning of the 90’s,” said Metsa.
Over the years, the company has seen both the boom of the construction market and the fierce economic crisis. The company’s largest annual revenue has been around 6.4 million euros (100 million kroons) and the number of employees has reached 100. Today SA.MET employs 45 people. “Times have changed, and you need to be flexible and adapt. But we have always been loyal to our principles, ” said Metsa. “It is the quality of our work, keeping with deadlines, performance, and long-term trust that are the appreciated by our partners,” said the company’s managing director.
Speaking about future plans, Janus Metsa mentioned that although SA.MET as a building company is considered mainly as a creator of the physical environment, the company also attaches great importance to the people who will be using the buildings. “For us, every building is much more than carefully designed and high quality engineering. We want to create an integrated living environment, comfortable and customer-friendly space solutions for service providers, industrial plants and other businesses, as well as well-planned and user-friendly public buildings. In addition, we value the health of our employees by supporting, for example, running and Nordic walking events as well as the development of health trails and tennis. ”
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, SA.MET will launch new corporate identity. We thank all our customers, partners and employees for their cooperation!
